Women currently control an estimated $20 trillion in annual consumer spending worldwide.
At the same time, the pace of technology adoption & innovation has rapidly increased in the last two years while becoming more and more ingrained into our daily lifestyle. But despite this, the options for women to purchase technology-focused accessories are limited, and the commerce platforms available to experimental brands are limited.
2014 was a year of change for women and technology; female purchasing power grew further and advances were made to address the gender gap in tech. Within technology, wearables took the market full-swing, Apple continued to dominate, fashion-tech became a ‘thing’, and headphones made their reemergence. One subsequent result and influence was a newfound interest by tech brands and companies, new and old, designing and building products for women.
This is where Teqtique comes in: Teqtique is a female-focused, multi- brand e-commerce store and lifestyle brand that brings together the most unique, high-quality, and fashion- forward products from around the world that champion the mergence between fashion & technology.
Founded by Jennytha Raj, an ex-technology management consultant with degrees from Imperial College London and University of Warwick, the e-store was set up to make women feel comfortable buying technology and integrate it seamlessly into their lifestyle. Teqtique aims to help close the gap in the segmented market for technologies, especially for those based outside the US and provide a channel for new and young companies and brands looking to reach new markets and audiences. The brands found on the site are carefully curated based on quality, appeal, design, usability and innovation. We challenge you to pick just one favourite because we certainly can’t!
The retailer is much more than a store – its regularly updated blog is specially curated for the young, fashion-forward and technology-savvy women who want to stay up-to-date with the latest fashion trends, connect with other likeminded women and read about wellness, health, career advice and culture.
We were first introduced to the concept of Teqtique back in April, when it had just launched. Our own Kristina Dimitrova met with Teqtique’s inspirational Jennytha Raj in a bar in East London to ‘talk business’. Instead, they ended up talking anything but business, agreeing at the end of the night to definitely meet up again and discuss ideas. Since then we have been following the female-focused tech boutique going from strength to strength and making modern women fall in love with technology as much as they are with fashion.
We are thrilled to say that Jennytha will join us on the 3rd of September at #INTERLACED2015 as a speaker and discuss Retail Channels for Fashion Tech Products.
